West Ham Plot Shock Move for Diego Forlan

Upton Park side keen on former Man United, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan man.

West Ham’s pursuit of much needed striking reinforcements will reportedly see Hammers boss Sam Allardyce making a move to sign Uruguayan star Diego Forlan according to Sports Direct News.

The Upton Park side have managed just nine goals in 11 Premier League fixtures and with forward Andy Carroll still out injured Allardyce will be looking to sign a striker in January but one wonders how likely a successful move for Internacional star Forlan would be.

The 34 year old recovered from a poor spell at Man United to make a real impact in La Liga with Villarreal and Atletico Madrid but perhaps the chance to rectify his previous Premier League disaster would be a motivating factor for the lethal finisher.

West Ham did manage to bring in the likes of Carlton Cole and Mladen Petric on free transfers after the passing of the summer deadline, but still the East London side struggles for goals.

The Uruguayan has scored 21 goals in 42 appearances for Internacional, and in Spain notched up 155 goals in seven seasons before a move to Inter Milan.

One would imagine that West Ham would have to offer Forlan a bumper salary to have any chance of luring the veteran back to the English top tier but such a financial outlay may well be what is required to keep the club from the drop zone.
