David Moyes Relieved After A 1-0 Victory Over Rival Liverpool

David Moyes was a relieved man after Manchester United recovered from their derby debacle with a vital win over rivals Liverpool.

Luis Suarez made his return for Liverpool after a 10-match bite ban, but it was Javier Hernandez who proved the match-winner.

The Little Pea turned in the only goal a minute into the second half and Moyes admitted victory was crucial following the 4-1 drubbing at Manchester City on Sunday.

Asked if the win was a relief, the United boss said: “It certainly was because it was a big game for us.

“We’d lost at Anfield a few weeks ago and at the Etihad on Sunday, and we wanted to put that right.

“I think what was important was that the whole club showed we were hurt by the game on Sunday, when we didn’t perform to our levels.

“But I’ll sort it, I’ll fix it and I’ll turn it around, I’ve no doubt about it.

“We know we have to improve. I’m getting to know them and they’re a really good team.”

After drawing at home to Chelsea and losing to Liverpool and City in the Premier League, Moyes acknowledged it was key to finally claim a big scalp.

“Every game everybody says that about me,” said Moyes. “It’s either a first for something or it’s a monkey off my back or something else. It’s going to be the way, isn’t it?”
