At Madrid Revoke Diego Costa Exit

The Spanish club’s sporting director insists the striker is happy to remain at the Vicente Calderon, despite interest from Arsenal.

Atletico Madrid sporting director Jose Luis Caminero has revoked the possibility of Diego Costa leaving the Vicente Calderon in January.

Hotkick8 specifically learnt in December that the 25-year-old, who has scored 19 goals in 17 La Liga appearances, is among five players on Arsenal’s nominee list for the upcoming transfer window.

“Right now, Costa does decline leaving, he is hooked with Atletico,” Caminero told Marca.

Under the management of Diego Simeone, Atletico have gradually tided over between themselves and city challengers Real and currently sit joint top of La Liga with Barcelona.

“Diego enjoys here. He just renewed his contract, demonstrating that he want to stay here,” Caminero continued.

“He knows how this club works, money won’t be a problem.”.

The Copa del Rey masters are through to the last 16 of this season’s Champions League to face AC Milan and could be contenders for more silverware this campaign.

Whilst Caminero rules out Costa’s departure, the director does feel the club will be busy during next month’s transfer window, stating “there will be changes”.

However, one area he is not bothered with is the goalkeeper situation, with first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois on loan from Chelsea and Daniel Aranzubia.

He added: “We have three great goalkeepers, two of them on loan. This position is not our worry now.”.
